What is a DAO?

A Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is a type of organization that is powered by computer code, instead of by people. It is not controlled by a central authority and is instead managed by a set of rules that are encoded into smart contracts on a blockchain network. In this way, a DAO is able to autonomously carry out certain tasks, such as decision-making, without any central authority. Additionally, because the code is open-source, anyone can view and audit it to ensure that the DAO is running correctly.
